Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Mä kun luulin, et lomalla on tarkotus ottaa rennosti! Mut ei, joka päivä on ollu jotain tekemistä! No, mutta hyvää myöhäistä joulua kaikille! Toivottavasti teijän Holidays on menny yhtä mukavissa merkeissä ku mun! Tässä pieni kuva kertaus mun lomasta.

Hi everyone!

Yeah I was honestly thinking that vacations are made for resting and taking it easy but I've been doing something everyday! Well, Merry Late Christmas for everyone and a Happy New Year! I hope your Holidays were as great as mine! Here's my vacation in pictures.



We opened the first gifts in 23rd and got new pajamas!


On Christmas Eve we went to a service in a Baptist curch.


If there's something my sisters know how to do, that's bake cookies!


Here's our cookies for Santa. I will definitely bake these in Finland! SO GOOD!








We opened our gifts on Christmas Eve cause next day was booked for skiing.


On the 28th we made a trip to Seattle and Space Needle.












We also visited EMP museum


There was an exhibition about Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana


And a lot of leather jackets


I'm pretty sure this was the biggest reason I bought a leather jacket of my own on the same day!


Gaby, her family, and I drove to Lake Chelan to spent our New Year there

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

Tehtiin täs viikko sitte Gabyn ja sen host äidin kaa tälläi extempore trip Bellevuehun. Käytii siel tekemäs jouluostoksii (vaik en kyl ite mitään ostanukaa), syömässä ja kattomassa sellast jouluparaatijuttua. Sinne oli tehty sellast tekolumisadetta ja oli ihana kattoo miten se sato maahan, vaik tiesi et se ei ollu oikeeta lunta.

Last week we did a extempore trip to Bellevue with Gaby and her host mom. They were Christmas shopping, we ate dinner at Nordstrom's, and watched the Bellevue Christmas Parade. They had fake snow and even though I knew it wasn't real, it was nice to have a piece of white Christmas.

Christmas Caroling

Hei!

Tänään olis pitäny olla vika päivä kouluu ennen joululomaa, mut koska meijän koulussa joku törppö oli menny uhkailee ottavansa aseen kouluun, nii meijän vanhemmat katto parhaaks pitää meijät kotona ja saatiin yks ekstra lomapäivä! jee! Tasha, Ally ja mä käytettiin se kyl hyvin hyödyks. Mentiin nimittäin laulelemaan joululauluja eri vanhainkoteihin täs Gig Harborin alueella. Koulun Interact club oli järjestäny tälläsen Christmas caroling jutun ja oli kyl ihana nähä miten kaikki ne vanhukset tykkäs ku tultiin sinne laulamaan meijän kauniilla (kröhömkröhöm) äänillä. Mehän ei siis olla mikään oikee kuoro ja näitä laulujahan ei oltu harjoteltu kertaakaan, mutta yleisö viihty! En voi ymmärtää miks Suomessa ei oo koulun yhteydessä tälläsia juttuja! On niin kiva olla mukana auttamassa kaikenlaisissa hyväntekeväisyystapahtumissa, ja tietää että oikeesti vaikuttaa jonkun elämään. Jotenki vaan mieleen painu, ku mentiin sit yhen vanhan miehen huoneen ovelle laulamaan ja se viittoili, että tulkaa sisään. Kaikki sit vähän ujosti tunki sinne pieneen huoneeseen ja laulettiin sille yks laulu. Se tykkäs ihan hirveesti. Se ei pystyny puhumaan, mut sen suu oli yhtä hymyä ja se taputti ja lähetteli meille lentosuukkoja! Tuli niin hyvä mieli siitä et oli oikeesti tehny jonkun ihmisen päivästä paremman.

Today we were supposed to have school but since there was a guy threatening to take a gun to school our parents thought it was better for us to stay home. And we got an extra day off! Yei! Well, Tasha, Ally, and I took a full advantage of that. Our Interact Club and us did Christmas caroling in Gig Harbor nursing homes. It was so rewarding to see how happy the elderly people were even though we weren't a real choir and we hadn't had any rehearsals. They were all singing along with us, smiling, and clapping their hands. I don't understand why Finland doesn't have this kind of school club!  It is so nice to help in charity and volunteer events and know that I'm actually helping people and making a difference in their lives. I will never forget how we all squeezed into one grandpa's room to sing him a song. He just loved it! He couldn't talk but he had a wide smile on his face and he was clapping his hands and blowing us kisses. It felt good to know that I had actually cheer someone up and made his day better!

Seattle

Vihdoinki! Neljän kuukauden jälkeen pääsin käymään Seattlessa! Tehtiin koulun digital photo ryhmän kaa sinne "kuvausmatka" pari viikkoo sitte, joten kaikki kuvat on lähinnä sitä varten otettuja.

And because I've been here four months I decided that it's time to write in English too. I'm lazy and busy so there may be times when I'll only write in Finnish. But let's all hope it's not gonna happen too often! So about this post. I finally got to see Seattle! After four months! We did a field trip with digital photo class a couple of weeks ago so that's what most of the pics are for.

Tidefest

Sain vihdoinki ratkastuu nää kuvan laittamis ongelmat, eli nyt on luvassa muutama päivitys vähä kauempaa menneisyydestä. (no jaa muutaman viikon takaa)

1.-2. joulukuuta mun koululla järjestettiin varainkeruu tapahtuma. Tidefest on jokavuotinen juttu (täl kertaa teemana Nemo Finds Tidefest), jossa koulun kerhot myy ruokaa ja saa kerättyä rahaa joko clubin omaan rahapussiin tai lahjotettavaks hyväntekeväisyyteen. Lisäks koulun molemma liikkasalit on täynnä erilaisia taiteilijoita (paremman sanan puutteessa), jotka myy esim. koruja, pihakoristeita, joulukoristeita, vaatteita yms. Kaikki käsintehtyä. Mä olin mukana tuolla kolmesta syystä. A) oon mukana leadershipissä, eli me järjestettiin toi tapahtuma. (huhhuh sitä stressin määrää marraskuun lopussa! Tai no, ainaki opettajat stressas.) B) oon mukana Interact clubissa. Se on koulun kerho, joka toimii yhdessä Rotaryn kanssa ja "parantaa maailmaa pieni teko kerrallaan" niiku meijän paidat sanoo. B) oon mukana Reachways clubissa, joka on toinen hyväntekeväisyys kerho.

Mun KOKO perjantai meni koululla. Koulupäivän jälkeen jäätiin koristelemaan paikkoja ja oltiin siellä johonki 9 asti illalla. Lauantaina menin sinne vasta 1 maissa, mutta tein siellä hommia Reachways ja Interact kojuilla johonki 6 asti. Reachways clubille myin Cinnabon pullia (joka oli aika piinaavaa, koska niit ei voinu ite syödä) ja Interact oli järjestäny valokuvaus kopin, jossa toimin rahastajana. Sunnuntaina olin siellä noin 2-7 samoissa hommissa, eli aika kauan olin koululla ton viikonlopun aikana.
